LOA Littlehampton Weekend and River Trip to Arundel

3rd-4th June 2006

Some say the world ends east of Selsey Bill.  Some say they would rather cross the channel than go into Littlehampton.  Don’t believe them. You may see a dolphin surfing the Looe buoys en route and Littlehampton Quay has recently been developed with new facilities and has a very helpful harbourmaster. Beautiful Arundel is only an hour up the river for a Sunday visit (Booking Form).

 The Tides

It is neap tides. The tide turns west at Selsey Bill at 16.00 on Saturday. The time to get in is 1-1.5 hours before/after high tide due to the bar, however there is plenty of water for all draughts at the Visitors Quay.

Saturday 3^rd Evening

We have booked the snug overlooking the River @ The Arun View Public House at 7pm, 5 mins up river from the quay. There is a set menu with choices @ £21.95 per head for 3 courses and £18.95 for 2 courses (starter or dessert) including coffee.  Childrens’ meals are available at £3.35. 

Sunday 4^th June

There is an optional trip to Arundel Castle leaving Littlehampton with Kingfisher Cruises at 10am on Sunday morning.  The trip takes 1 hour up river arriving in time for Arundel Castle grounds opening at 11am with the rooms opening at 12 noon. You could just take a wander around the town and have lunch! The return leaves at 2pm.   Alternatively you could take your dinghy up river on the tide starting at about 08.30 and return on the ebb early afternoon.

PLEASE ADVISE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE IF YOU WISH TO TAKE THE KINGFISHER CRUISE AS SPACES ARE LIMITED TO 12 AND WE NEED TO BOOK IN ADVANCE.
