Bucklers Hard Weekend Meeting – Friday 22 April – Sunday 24 April 2005For full detail and booking form click here. An interesting opportunity to sail between trees and fields on this LOA bash – it should be a pleasant, quiet and relaxing weekend at Bucklers’ Hard Marina. As usual your committee has managed to find a central location and get you fed and watered at reasonable cost – with a bonus on Sunday morning ! Please let me know as soon as possible, if you are able to join us, as the place will book up fast ! Friday 22 April 2005ARRIVAL BUCKLER’S HARD Berths have been provisionally allocated in Bucklers’ Hard Marina – Please call them directly on 01590 616200 to advise them of the number of nights you require, your LOA, (have you noticed how Legends shrink when left in the water) and arrange payment with them on arrival. 19:15 FRIDAY SUPPER Has been arranged at The Master Builder, booking is not necessary as they serve on a first come first served basis. We can eat in the main pub, which is located just 300 – 400 metres from the Marina. We have eaten there before and food is quite good and reasonably priced, we will need to pay individually for our meals and drinks. Saturday 23 April 200513:00 SATURDAY - LUNCH We have arranged a BBQ on the green alongside the river, where there are benches and seats, and the Harbour Master will provide a large steel BBQ. All we need to do is bring our favourite food to be cooked, with your selection of salads and drinks for an alfresco meal – hopefully the weather will be kind to us. Suzie Too will take a couple of bags of charcoal and a gallon of paraffin to get things going. SATURDAY - EXERCISE There is a walk alongside the river that leads up into Beaulieu Village of about 2½ miles through the wooded path. Alternately you can cycle or go up in the tender, which takes about 30 mins, but it is only navigable a couple of hours either side of high water, if you want to avoid rotovating the river bed. In Bucklers Hard there is a small museum and of course the Motor Museum at Beaulieu, this is a great place to explore the New Forest from. 16:00 SATURDAY - AFTERNOON TEA The same area that we used for the BBQ can be used for afternoon tea, where we would encourage those of you that have been to the WI Cake Stall recently to bring a selection of creams teas, cakes and pots of tea to serve to our weary walkers and rowers. 19:00 SATURDAY - DINNER Has been arranged at The Master Builder’s House Hotel, Tel: 01590 616253, where Suzie Too has provided the Sir Francis Chichester Room, as a private dining room in the hotel with a choice of meals from the bar. The hotel is quite smart and you may feel uncomfortable in jeans and walking boots, but the staff are very friendly and helpful. Sunday 24 April 200510:00 SUNDAY MORNING - BEAULIEU BOAT JUMBLE Originally I was looking for a volunteer to learn Tai Chi for the weekend so that we could all get fitter and more bendy and was particularity keen to learn the move “grab a crouching tiger by the tentacles without him noticing”. However your LOA committee has been able to get the Beaulieu Boat Jumble arranged around our weekend. I’m hoping to volunteer Don Alexander to head up the escape committee, on Sunday morning, as he will be on the PBO stand, so anyone planning to go under the wire will just need their normal SAS kit - camo face paint, wire cutters, balaclava etc. Boat Jumble Tickets – 01509 612888 (09:00 – 17:00) mention “PBO 2005” to save £ 2.50 per ticket, which will then only cost £ 5.00 per Adult and £ 3.50 per Child. If most of us want to go then let me know and we could book a mini-bus to take us all up at 10:00 for a couple of hours – otherwise it is a bit of a hike. Depart at your leisure to home ports and onward destinations Don’t stay too long or you will be in Beaulieu for Sunday evening as well. For full detail and booking form click here. |
