Filling up with diesel. You are low on fuel and in a rush. You take your yacht over to the pumping station and mooring it up. You start filling up the tank with diesel and the tank indicator doesn't move! What could be wrong? 1) May be the pump isn’t actually working and nothing is going in the tank. You pull it out a bit and … sure enough diesel is going in! 2) You think the float must have got stuck and begin to think how on earth you’re going to get access to it? 3) Well you think, I can’t fix it now and will look at it later. You set off to your destination and just after a few miles motoring, the engine cuts out due to lack of diesel!!! What’s happened? On the ball(!!) yacht's man like myself (who has learnt by bitter experience) will tell you what’s happened…. ... ... ... ... … You have put the fuel in the holding tank or worse in the fresh water tank.
On a number of Legends the inlet for the diesel and the holding tank are very close together. So BE VERY careful where you put your nozzle in a hurry. |
